More and more medical institutions offer yoga practices as primary or additional therapy to heal many functional disorders. They include:

  • diseases of the respiratory and circulatory systems;

  • neuropsychiatric disorders;

  • chronic inflammatory processes;

  • the consequences of trauma and operations;

  • infections and immune system disorders;

  • allergic reactions;

  • weakening of the adaptive abilities of the body.

The pelvic floor is the "bottom" of our body that supports internal organs – intestines, genitals, bladder. It includes muscles, strong ligaments, connective tissues– fascia. However, our sedentary lifestyle, filled with stress and tension, harms the pelvic floor's condition.

Yoga intertwines with neurophysiology because positions and exercises practiced in the classroom affect certain nerve centers. When you practice chest-opening poses like Ustrasana (Camel pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), you stimulate motor and sensory functions. Yoga for health normalizes your heart rate and positively affects your cardiovascular system's functioning.

Such exercises are relaxing because when you breathe properly and release muscle tension, the cortisol level in your blood decreases, which leads to a feeling of calm and peace.
